49/52 {oh christmas tree, oh christmas tree}

{Harper} Being the tactile girl that she is, Harper spends a lot of her time touching the decorations on our tree.

 {Finn} According to Finn, it's not a real Christmas tree until the lights are on.

{The B-sides}
{cuddling up to one of her birthday presents. I chose her solely on her cute name - 'Paprika Mae'}
{snow peas are growing in abundance and Finn and Harper are the chief pea pickers...and eaters}
{searching, searching, searching}
{play matters}
{Harper received a set of face paints for her birthday and her first subject was Finn. He was a little apprehensive about all of this, can you tell?}
{character Finn requested= a robber. the yellow bit on his chin is a gold tooth. The robber fascination has come from his LEGO city creations. I'm not overly thrilled with this new interest, especially when Finn proclaimed when we were driving in the car "So mum, when I grow up I want to be either a policeman....or a robber" Hoping you sway towards the good side of that spectrum buddy.}
{switching roles}
{a fairy princess of coarse!}
{round two. Captain Barnacles from the Octonauts}
{summer is here}

38/52

{Harper} Swapping bath time for shower time this week.

*Two photos I know, but I couldn't resist. I blame the cute-as-can-be-stuck together eyelashes.

{Finn} Hiding from Harper.
The B-sides (because two photos seems a little minimalist for me)
{due to Lachie being sick on Father's Day we had belated celebration lunch. Finn announced to anyone who made eye contact with him "It's Father's Day today!" He was met with lots of confused looks. Happy Father's day Lachie. What a lucky pair these two are to have you as their Dad.}
{trademark concentration face}
{a post lunch visit to the top of Mt Ainslie. Our venture was cut short due to Harper sliding down a gravel path. Band-Aids weren't going to cut it, so we made a quick exit.}
{Her Daddy taught her how to hopscotch this week}
{Finn captured this beauty of Harper}
{A rainy day escape to the National Museum café. I bought a packed lunch for the kids but I did buy them a drink they could share*. As they each took their turn with the straw, the other would stare and tap on the bench until the popper was handed over.
*See I'm not completely cheap. }
{more sharing}
{another rainy day = cubby house building}
{my baking assistant}
{this photo perfectly sums up most of my efforts to get my two in the same frame: one keen.....one not so keen.}

36/52 {hello spring!}

{Harper}  Picking flowers for a vase in her room. Spring is here and we are thankful.

{Finn} Banging the drums at the National Arboretum Pod Playground. This new playground is something special and we look forward to visiting again.
The B-sides (because two photos seems a little minimalist for me)
{the most spectacular light beaming in through the Arboretum's roof}}
{digging up the last of the winter harvest. And yes, those are pegs in Harper's hair. she has her own kooky style}
{backyard tea party}
{Me: "Harper, would you like to go to the hairdressers and get a haircut this week?"
Harper: "Um, no. I think I will grow my hair forever, just like Rapunzel." }
{early morning sunlight was a little too harsh for this poppet}
{my favourite sight from our week}

29/52

{Harper} It was a difficult day.
{Finn} Learning to compromise: Finn and Harper don't always see eye to eye on the games they choose to play together. It usually goes like this: Finn suggests that they play Fire-fighters, Harper rejects his offer but proposes they play princesses, Finn says "But I don't want to play princesses!", they both storm off and promptly do their own thing. Today though, Finn gave a little and gained a little back. He agreed to play hairdressers with Harper in return for a bit of a time role playing being divers in an under sea adventure. It wasn't easy for him. He barely lets me touch his curls, but on this afternoon he winced and flinched as Harper combed his hair. He sat and bared it all and Harper was delighted. She told him he looked beautiful with his new "style" and Finn seemed to agree.

{Mama's necklace}
{collecting sticks for our fireplace}
{role playing being a knight has been in high rotation this week. together we made a cardboard sword.so far there has only been one injury during his "role playing"}
{a tad bit obsessed with a certain character after watching 'Toy Story' a few weeks ago.}
