Documenting Delight: Day ninety eight

We stopped over in Wollongong last night, after our day in Sydney yesterday. This morning this mumma was in need of a hefty dose of caffeine so I took the kids for a walk to the Plaza. As we were waiting for my coffee Finn noticed that a team of ladies were setting up a petting zoo outside the shops. Is there anything greater than unexpected and free toddler entertainment? I don’t think so. Finn gripped the gate of the petting zoo, calling out to the animals (Piggy, can you say ‘Oink’?) and alerting the petty zoo workers when the food and water for the animals was running low.

Meanwhile our other animal lover wasn’t so keen. Harper kept calling out “up, up” and snuggling in tight to her Daddy once she was picked up. It was then that we noticed our baby girl was unwell.

Documenting Delight: Day ninety seven {good friday}

A beautiful lunch was held at Lachie’s sister and brother in law's house in Sydney for Good Friday. It was jam packed day; Easter egg hunt for the kids, cousins at play, a beyond delicious fish meal, a belated birthday celebration for Finn and a family coming together in a time of sadness.

Documenting Delight: Day ninety six

When I snapped this moment at the ridiculously early hour of 5am, I intended to write up a short post about how day light savings is playing havoc with Finn and Harper’s sleeping. Making the impossible possible; making our difficult sleepers, well, even more difficult. Then an hour or so later we received a call to say that Lachie’s much loved Nana had passed away overnight. What seemed important to me one hour ago, what I felt warranted a bit of a whinge, now didn’t seem to matter.
Throughout this sad day, this moment reinforced why I am completing this project. Things change. Circumstances shift and lives can be altered within the short space of a week or even as today highlighted, within a day.
I am dedicated to seeing this commitment through. To look back apon 366 days and see the small stuff, the routines that seem so ordinary while you are walking through them day by day, and recognise that it really was big stuff after all. These moments, these days changed me, changed us. Four months in I can already see this loud and clear.

Documenting Delight: Day ninety five {daddy + daughter love}

This morning in Harper’s room:
Me: Harper let’s get you dressed for the day!
H: NO! Daddy do it!
Me: That’s fine. How about Daddy gets you dressed and I do your hair afterwards?
H: No, daddy do that too.
The shift has begun. A Daddy’s girl in the making......

Documenting Delight: Day ninety three

I know, I have photographed Finn’s curls in detail before. I just couldn’t help myself. That curl making a perfect circle smack bam in the middle of his head, well, it was just screaming to be captured.
That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.
